Adding static data to widgets

BeckyCrittenden

Hi Sisense team!
Is it possible to add static values to a widget that would allow creation of a visual?
For example, in a dashboard showing Thisyear/Lastyear month over month revenue values, how might I add a visual that shows the target revenue values? These target values are not coming from a formula rather they are values we determine. I.e. January Target revenue 300K, Feb Target Revenue 350K and so on.

Is this something possible within the widget configuration?

Thank you!

Hey @BeckyCrittenden
Another option would be to keep it super simple, and just write up a static data formula,
What I do in these scenarios;
1. Add a new measure in the chart you’re presenting the Revenue Values
2. Type in a static value for that month’s target; 300k, 350k..
3. Add it as a line chart, and add value labels
That’s it! KISS = Keep it simple and short 😉
You can then repeat that process for other static target values.

If these target values are dynamic, and change in your data set for different months like you mention, you can maintain a target value XLS sheet and bring it into your data model as a target table. Then use the MAX/MIN values from there into this new target formula in your existing chart. That way the date filter will change the target value accordingly.
Another cool thing you can do is then apply simple conditional formatting to the actual revenue value measures, so you see which months are above or below target.

Hi @BeckyCrittenden,

Thank you for reaching out. Great question!

Have you looked into Blox widgets? This post by @harikm007 is a good start. https://community.sisense.com/t5/help-and-how-to/why-sisense-s-visualizations-are-a-game-changer-for...

David Raynor (DRay)

Hi DRay!

Thank you very much for the suggestion, however Blox is not enabled in our instance.
I have suggested using indicator widgets or advanced scripting to our end client.
I am also unsure if Benji's suggestion is supported on our end, or if our end clients are permitted to enable plugins on their individual instances/accounts.

Thank you and have a great day!

Hi @BeckyCrittenden

Ravid here from Paldi. While our free plugins are indeed free - they are still officaily supported with the exact same entreprize grade SLA that is provided for our commercial plugins.

Also, our framework allows you to enable the registered widget only for specifc tenent environment or for designers who are essociuated with speecfic user groups (though this feature is usually used by our clients for monetization purpsoes where their clients need to pay to enable a plugin in their environemnt).

Among our clientale you can find big brands. I welcome you to check our website for further info and a glance of some of the clients.

Cheers,

Ravid

Hi @BeckyCrittenden

I’d love to add to  @DRay ’s comment and suggest another great option that might help with the use case you described.

As part of Paldi Solutions' free plugins, we offer a tool called the Indicator Card.

The Indicator Card is a widget that lets you display key metrics and trends — including static target values like the ones you mentioned (e.g., January Target: 300K). You can also show trend indicators (like arrows) to compare actual values against those targets.

Here are a few simple examples of how it can look in practice:

Again, this plugin is completely free for the Sisense community. If you’d like to try it out, feel free to reach out at inquiries@paldi.solutions, and we’ll be happy to help!

Hi Angelina!
Thank you very much! I will review this and let you know if I have further questions.

Hey Angelina,

In reviewing the dashboard widget where the target would go, is a column chart, not a line line chart.
In your first suggestion, how would I add the 'target line' on the column chart?
Thank you!

Hi @BeckyCrittenden,

If you want to make sure that someone sees mention of them, you can use the "@" symbol, then type the username of the person you want to notify. Like @Angelina_QBeeQ😃

I hope that helps.

Hi @DRay Oops! I missed the tag completely, thank you for the reminder!

@Angelina_QBeeQ

I am trying your first suggestion about adding a target line but the widget type is different than what you show in the image.

My dashboard widget where the target would go is a column chart. Your image shows a line chart but you have data columns, like I do.

How would I add the 'target line' on the column chart?

@Angelina_QBeeQ
In follow up to your mention of dynamic values - how do I import or add a target table from XLS into the data model?
Would you share details or steps on how to manage this?
Thank you!
