User-friendly filters at top of dashboard?

I'd like to create very visible filters at the top of the dashboard that users can easily see and manipulate, without first having to click into the pencil icon.  Is that possible?  I don't see anything in the documentation that instructs on how to do that....

Are you looking for something like this?

Yes -- very much like that!  If you are able to share how those filters were created like that, I'd appreciate it.  (I feel like I must be ignorant as that seems basic, but I've been unable to find it.)

Sisense support just got back to me and recommended a couple of plugins.  I'm going to try QBeeQ.  Surprised it's not out-of-the-box functionality, but looks like this will address the need.

Hi @green

I'm Ravid from Paldi Solutions, nice to e-meet you (:

The screenshot that @jeffhurley had shared is from using our premium marketplace plugin

named Advanced Filters which is indeed one of the most popular plugins in the marketplace (and oldest).

Per your initial question, you have several ways to add "inline filters" within your dashboards:

Free Alternatives

1) Blox Widget

- Blox is a useful widget that acts as a mid ground between a fully customized (coded) widget to an easy to use widget that is defined from a UI.

- You can use it to set up dropdowns and other UI elements and connect them to the dashboard's filters so they would act as filters.

- It is a free and officially supported option so I would definitely consider it if you have some technical capacity or already working with a partner to assist you with your implementation.

Checkout the links below for further information around how to do it on your own:

2) Wiser Filter

- This is one of the oldest community plugin and few of the only ones that have made it to become an active open source project. While it's not officialy supported by anyone, it is widely used and usually gets updates not too long after it breaks if a new version of Sisense is out that breaks it (though it's proved to be fairly stable along the years)

- You can access it from the link below

Premium Alternatives

- The downside of the free alternatives is that they either require a hefty amount of coding / configuration to be inplace or they support only fairly simple use cases where you would plot only 2-3 filters in your dashboards.

- Also, for some standards, their proposed user experience is not great.

- That is why you have several commercial options in the marketplace for filter widgets. I'm obviously biased when I recommend our plugin so the none biased suggestion would be to valuate them on your own and make your own judgment as the prices are pretty similar.

Paldi's Advanced Filters

- Simply go to the Sisense Marketplace and selected the "Filtering" Category to get a comprehensive list of the different filters widgets that are available

I hope it helped and feel free to reach out in case you have any questions  we're always happy to help (:
