Widget Text and Column formatting Megathread
Hello Everyone! There are a lot of Ideas around improving the ability to format the text in Widgets. We appreciate all the feedback! In order to make it easer for people to find and contribute to the discussion, I am combining them into this thread. Everyone, what are the customizations that you would like to see in the GUI rather than using a script? One of the ways we prioritize development efforts is by community interest. I encourage everyone to vote and comment on this suggestion and its comments. The more engagement a request receives, the higher the likelihood of it being considered for implementation. Thank you for participating, and we are excited to work with you to make a better Sisense! Have a great day!6.1KViews15likes15CommentsFolder and Dashboard Ownership for Multiple Users
Folders and Dashboards are only permitted to have 1 owner, this has been the case with Sisense since we first started using it 6 years ago. The time has really come to allow multiple owners of Dashboards and Folders. We have around 70 Designers who use our Sisense instance and being able to swap work, work jointly, used shared structures etc. adds a huge amount of time, inconvenience and frustration. The request here is to allow multiple owners of Folders and Dashboards so that Designers can collaborate more effectively, the flexibility of such work would greatly reduce the time to deployment.6KViews19likes25CommentsAllow minimum and maximum aggregation for date fields
Currently, when adding a date field as a value in a pivot table, the only option is the # of years/# of days/etc. We need the option to add a minimum and/or maximum date for the selected rows. The current 'work around' for this is to create an integer date, and then use a script to format the integer to present as a date. However, when exporting the data, the date shows as the integer value in the exported data, which is an unacceptable result. Adding the date as a row value solves the export issue, but displays all date values for the lowest level of detail in the data source, which is also an unacceptable result. If it was possible to add the minimum or maximum of a date field as a value in the pivot tables, this would solve all of the issues we currently have.4.4KViews33likes18CommentsAggregate Categorical Data to Simplify Analysis
We would like to be able to dynamically aggregate different categories of data into a fewer number of categories to make the visualization and analysis of that data cleaner and more Viewer-friendly. Example: I may have records of a color that I want to count on. I may have these possible values: "Red", "RED", "red", "Blue", "BLUE", "blue", "Orange", "ORANGE", "orange", and so on. If I COUNT on these values I may get: "Red": 10 "RED": 7 "red": 12 "Blue": 2 "BLUE": 7 "blue": 22 ...and so on.. I'm asking for aggregation feature that I, as a user, could define based on the values in these records such taht the data above could be represented as: "Red": 29 (i.e., 10 + 7 + 12) "Blue": 31 (i.e., 2 + 7 + 22)3.3KViews11likes9CommentsAvoid Javascript in many core widgets
Hi, There are many widget types that are part of the core of an analytical solution. Examples like Tabber, Jump to Dashboard, Accordion... are tools that the business users find very powerful and gives Sisense the fleixbility in the visualization that put the platform in the road to copete with powerful visualization tools like Tableau. But, the profile of most of designers are business analyst or business users. To use and to configure properly this kind of visualizations, makes them to enter in a Javascript world, that it's very confusing and dirty. It makes that the promise of "self service" is not to close. I should be great if the configuration of this kind of visualization will be made from an user interface, without the need to write JS code. I would like to have the possibility for a cube designer to provide a description per dimension. The dashboard designer would be given an help on the meaning of the data he is bringing in his report. The help text would show up on mouse over (tool tips)2.6KViews22likes9CommentsOption to sort bar chart bars by Value
Bar charts show the bars sorted in order by their label. Sometimes you want the bars to be in ascending/descending order by their sizes (i.e. the value being measured), so that the most significant items are on one side or the other. While we're at it, the option in the bar chart design to Limit the number of bars being shown to just the "Top X", would help where you have situations where again you want to focus on the most significant items (smallest or largest) without outliers throwing it off.2.5KViews0likes3CommentsAbility to more granularly control editing of Shared Formulas, Attributes, and non-shared Formulas
We embed Sisense into our application and produce pre-built dashboards for customers (which they cannot edit). We allow our users to create their own dashboards as well and with this comes the ability to create their own formulas. We have found that allowing them to edit the name of their formula also allows the editing of our pre-built shared formulas and our attributes. While this only impacts the user locally, it can become a support nightmare, as customers can rename our pre-built items and make it hard to them troubleshoot. We would like the ability to make these edit options more granular so that we can control (1) Shared Formula name edits (2) Attribute name edits and (3) non-shared Formula, local user dashboard, name edits.2.5KViews12likes10CommentsDisable Wizard Mode for New Widgets
Scenario: embedded Sisense By default, when creating a new widget, Sisense puts the user into the widget "Wizard Mode", which then requires the use to click "Advanced Configuration" to view the full-feature widget editor. We don't want our users to use "Wizard Mode" and to always be placed directly into "Advanced Configuration". This should be a configurable setting at the Admin level.2.4KViews10likes5Comments
