Add robust folder management

We have created many folders (and subfolders) to help us organize our dashboards. It is currently very cumbersome to share folder access and ownership, which must be done for every dashboard within the folders. It would be nice if there were an easy (and native) way to share access to a folder and every dashboard within it, or to change ownership of a folder.

  • Hi,

When exporting dashboards, we cannot export a folder with all their dashboards. Then, we need to export all the content, create the folder in the target environment, and then import all the contents in this new folder. We thought that the best approach is the ability to include folders as a asset to export. Then, when import, the whole folder structure is restored. If the folders exist in the target enviroment, just ask to overwrite, the same as a dashboard.

Now, the export/import process is a little bit confusing.

  • Definitely agree with this idea, managing with multiple users is a real pain.

  • Hey jeremy_tabrasa

I know you mentioned that you're looking for a native way to achieve this, the only way to do this without a plugin would be to modify the application db and this is highly not recommended doing this manually and without an expert.

With that, at QBeeQ we do have an easy to use premium plugin which does exactly what you're looking for; share and republish or change ownership of entire folders in a single operation instead of going dashboard by dashboard.

If you'd like we can have a quick call to discuss this, feel free to reach out for either option,

    Always here to help 🙂

  • Hello jeremy

Thank you for submitting your Idea. Folder sharing is something that our product team is aware of, but it is not on the current roadmap. Hopefully, we will see it in a future release!

If you need something in the meantime, there are some plug-ins available on the Marketplace that may fill your need.

Add Folder/Project management to roadmap - WellSKy is looking for a solution that would allow the organization of dashboards by folder, similar to the currently available model without the folders being owned by a specific user. Any developer on our team should be able to create in or move dashboards to the appropriate folder.

They understand the only option at this point is QBEEQ plug-in but its a hard sell for their leadership when they have a new use case to have to justify paying for another plug-in when Sisense should have this basic user management feature solution built in.

This has been discussed extensively by the product team, and there are no plans to include this in the roadmap at this time.

However, I am going to leave this post open to gather more votes and comments. Maybe we will see it included in a future release!
