Introduction
This article explains how to display the value labels as a variance (instead of the value itself) in a bar or column chart.

Steps

STEP 1 - ADD THE PLUGIN

Download the attachment and unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\PrismWeb\plugins\ folder. If you are using version 7.2 and higher unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\app\plugins\ folder. If the plugins folder doesn't exist, just create it. After those files have been unzipped there, you may also have to restart the web server. Now, when you create a new bar or column widget the settings menu should contain an option for showing value labels as a variance.

STEP 2 - CREATE THE CHART

Create a column or bar chart that has at least 2 value series.    For example, this could be showing Current Year vs Prior Year Sales.  By default if you choose to show Value Labels, it will show the sales amount as the value label for each column.  In the Widget Editor, open the settings menu (see image above) for the widget and check the option under Value Labels to Show Variance.
Now the label for the first value series will be hidden, and all other value series will show the variance from the first series.  If you want to compare to a different value series, just drag it to the top of the list.
References/Notes
  • The hidden (comparison) value for this chart is the first measure listed under VALUES.
  • This plugin is built for column and bar charts.
