Sisense Implementation - Client Readiness Checklist
1. Business & Use Case Alignment
- Key Metrics Defined: Have the client clearly defined the KPIs and business metrics they need?
- Business Questions Identified: What insights do they want to derive from their data?
- Stakeholder Alignment: Are business users, IT, and leadership aligned on BI goals?
- Report & Dashboard Expectations: Have sample reports, mockups, or templates been provided?
2. Installation (for self-hosting customers only)
- Has Linux server been spun up?
- Has it been "rightsized" to validate that it is equipped to handle expected volumes of data and user concurrency
- Is Sisense installed with the latest version?
3. Data Sources & Availability
- Source Systems Identified: Have all relevant databases, applications, and third-party data sources been
- listed?
- Data Volume & History: What is the historical data retention policy? How many years of data are required?
- Access to Data Sources: Are necessary credentials and API keys available for data extraction?
- Data Extraction Method: Does the client prefer direct connections, ETL, or data exports?
- Data Refresh Requirements: How frequently should data be updated (real-time, hourly, daily, weekly)?
4. Data Quality & Structure
- Data Completeness: Are all required fields populated, or are there missing values?
- Data Accuracy: Has the data been validated for inconsistencies, duplicate records, or errors?
- Data Consistency: Do all systems use standardized formats for dates, currencies, and categories?
- Primary Keys & Relationships: Are primary keys and foreign key relationships properly defined?
- Data Standardization: Are naming conventions, units of measure, and data types consistent across systems?
5. Infrastructure & Performance
- Data Warehouse Setup: If using a data warehouse (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), is it structured for BI
- reporting?
- Performance Considerations: Are data sources optimized for querying (e.g., indexing, partitioning)?
- Sisense Server / Cloud Access: Is the client’s Sisense environment set up and accessible?
- Data Security & Compliance: Are access control policies, encryption, and PII handling policies in place?
6. Integration & API Readiness
- API Documentation Provided: If using APIs, are documentation and authentication details available?
- API Rate Limits & Restrictions: Are there any limitations that could impact data extraction?
- Third-Party Connectors: Does the client require any connectors for platforms like Salesforce, QuickBooks, or
- HubSpot?
7. User & Role Management
- User Roles Defined: Have user roles (admin, analyst, viewer) been assigned?
- SSO & Authentication Setup: Is there a need for Single Sign-On (SSO) integration?
- Dashboard Access Permissions: Are there data security rules to restrict access by department or location?
8. Training & Handover Plan
- Key Users Identified: Who will be trained to maintain and use Sisense dashboards?
- Training Requirements: What level of training (basic, advanced, admin) is needed?
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Will the client need written documentation or video guides?
9. Project Timeline & Expectations
- Milestones Defined: Has a phased approach been planned (e.g., MVP, Iteration 1, Full Deployment)?
- Client Resource Availability: Are client IT and business teams available for reviews and UAT?
- Change Management Plan: How will updates and new data sources be incorporated after go-live?
