Purpose

In some organizations, the Administrator might like to hide the internal structure (measures, field names, filters) of widgets from Viewer users, while designers will still be able to edit  the widgets as they used to (May be required to address low-skilled end-users, restricting them from navigating away from the dashboards).

Steps

The following steps will walk through the process of adding the plugin and creating a custom filter.

STEP 1 - ADD THE PLUGIN

Download the attachment and unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\PrismWeb\plugins\ folder. If you are using version 7.2 and higher unzip the contents into your C:\Program Files\Sisense\app\plugins\ folder. If the plugins folder doesn't exist, just create it.
Step 2 - Refresh the dashboard page as a viewer.
The ‘Full Screen’ arrows will be gone

NOTES

  • This Plugin will affect the entire environment and is not dashboard / widget specific.
  • The Plugin does not affect the behaviour of independent Widgets in ‘embedded mode’ and they remain visible fully as before, to all users.
  • This is not a security feature. Advanced users can get the Widget ID by inspecting the page, and hack to its definitions by manually changing the URL.
  • Designer users who are shared with ‘can view’ permissions, will be affected the same as Viewers.
