Issues trying to set up a data connector to SQL Server using server name

Hello

I can connect to my SQL Server using the ip address but can't using the server name . I have added an entry to the etc/hosts file on the server (and restarted it), but I still cannot connect by server name.

I can ping the server name on the Linux server.

Any one got any ideas?

    Since you can ping the server name from the Linux server, DNS resolution appears to be working fine. Check the SQL Server configuration to ensure it allows for the connections using the server name and that the firewall permits access. I think you got your answer properly i make sure you are happy with my answer . there are many problem to do that so ask anyone.
