How do you handle timezone conversions on dashboards?

We store our dates in UTC format and want the ability for dashboard viewers to view the date data in their timezone, or in a timezone they select.  Has anyone figured out a way to do this?  We have a LOT of date data in our data model.

Here's a link to some Sisense documentation on time zones...you would create a custom date table (or I suppose you could add custom columns to an existing table) and then assign specific users access to only certain timezones through data security?

Hi Barry,

RAPID BI (https://www.rapidbi.com.au) has developed a World Time by Elasticube add-in that deals with this issue and allows relative dates on the front end. It not only solves the UTC problem but can be configured per Elasticube.

It has been in production for a client for over a year now, but we have not yet packaged it for the marketplace. Reach out to us if you are interested.

Cheers,

James.

Hi James can you direct to the link for that add-on? I don't see it advertised here: https://www.sisense.com/marketplace/

Hi Chad,

We actually have a lot of add-ins not yet on the Marketplace, but have been in production for a long time with our members (RAPID BI Members have access to our add-ins rather than having to purchase separately). We are working on the marketing materials together for these add-ins and they will be on the Marketplace soon.

If you can please fill in the contact form on our website (https://www.rapidbi.com.au/contact-us.php) we can demonstrate this and our other add-ins for you and email you some information.

Cheers,

James Kruss

Hi @barrytallis
I'm Benji from Paldi Solutions, nice to e-meet you (:

Dealing with multiple time zones is a really common use case, as you can see in the comments you have few available options to choose.

One of them is Paldi's TimeZone Adjustment

The advantage of using this plugin is that it intercepts all the queries "behind the scenes" and there is no need for Elasticube changes or sophisticated front-end scripts to be applied so users will see the data in their own time zone.

Feel free to reach out of you have further questions, we're always happy to help (:
