This is a great question and I'd like to share with you an example of a home page built using the Blox widget.

Blox is a powerful tool you can use to play with the configuration of the widget and add actions to it.

We call ours Mission Control. It's branded using a simple Blox header, has 2-5 data sources, conditional colors, and no end user filters. We use accordions for task oriented users and jump tos for analytics oriented users. Since it's embedded in our system we spend a lot of time getting the sizing right, and have found that 3 rows of 2-4 widgets is the sweet spot that allows them to view it as a whole. Edited to add: Using card view keeps it clean looking--one in development that will allow a single client filter is attached.
