When I'm editing or creating a new chart in SQL (chart being part of a bigger dashboard), I often find myself having to go in and out to change filters, or to just hardcoding values than later I have...
One option here is to have filters that affect specific widgets only, rather than dashboard level filters.
E.g. Drop-down list filters that would sit on the dashboard and when a selection is made, the target widgets would have their widget filters set to match the selection. You could then change the widget level filter as you like during development, and as soon as you go back to the dashboard and refresh or make a selection it's going to update everything to be correct and consistent. You can even eliminate dashboard level filters entirely if you like.
