Customizing smart label plugin

Question

Hello,
I am using the smart label widget to show the selected current year of the data.
It works fine when there are several years available. But when I use the background filter to allow only one year, then the widget is showing "All" instead of the year.Is it possible to manipulate the smart label widget that it shows always the year?

If you need to select only one year at a time, you can convert the filter to 'single select', so that it will display the selected item even if there is only one item in filter.
