When replacing a server, or testing an upgrade, we often find our clients taking a backup of their Sisense database and restoring it to another server. After updating the server identity in the mongodb, it's pretty much ready to go. However, use dashboards all reference the old server and have to be updated. This is a manual process that the users themselves one dashboard and data source at time. An administrator cannot easily do that work on their behalf. Acknowledging that there is a replace_datasource API call that allows you to apply a new server and data source to a single dashboard, I would love an easier a way to update just the server across all dashboards. ... Creating security rules within the Data Security menu for Elasticubes only allows you to assign users access to values to that are already in your data. If I am creating a rules for user visibility of e.g. individual 'store references' and a new store with reference '1414' is added, I can't create a rule for store 1414 unless it is already in my data. Could there be an option to manually specify the value, rather than having to select a pre-existing value? (I am aware this possible to add via the REST API, but this is a bit fiddly for frequent small edits). ... View more

Opening a dashboard which leads to a temporary error will redirect the user away from the dashboard URL to a 'dedicated' error page, e.g. 'https://xxxxxxx.sisense.com/app/main/error?status=404'. If this is a temporary error and the user refreshes this page they will never return to their intended destination - they are stuck on the error page forever. This causes confusion for our clients. Is there a way to change the way errors work so that I'm not redirected to a 'dedicated' error page and instead I can refresh the page and see my intended dashboard once the error is resolved? ... It would be really useful to have a hierarchy filter displaying parent-child relationship. Currently when we create a filter, it just displays all the members in the entity.  If there is a relationship between the members its not possible to identify it directly in 1 filter, the only way around is create dependent filters. But that too would get tedious, as everytime we have go through multiple filters to see the members in each sub filter. Example: If there is a relationship as below: In this case, the table has the name and parent name as 2 separate columns. So the filter could display members as below in a tree format which can be collapsed or expanded, such that there is a check box next to the member and user can select the individual members, or a group of members. Our clients find that the sorting option is not available in Pivot widget, but it's available in Table widget; and on the other hand, we have available the "Drill into" and "Jump To Dashboard" features in Pivot widget, but it's not available in Table widget. That is why I suggest that we should have the feature to "Drill into" and "Jump To Dashboard" in Pivot widget, because that way we'll have all the functionalities needed to sort, drill into and jump to other dashboards in this Pivot widget. I've been trailing the Report Manager add-on and was disappointed to see that the 'Event Based' option for triggering reports did not allow for Pulse Alerts to be used as an Event. It seems the current workaround is to use a tool like Zapier (so the pulse goes out to Zapier via webhook, which then creates the Event and goes back into Sisense, causing the report to be sent. This seems convoluted and I would have thought being able to directly integrate Pulses to trigger Reports seems like a natural fit. ... View more

Many of our clients have found it confusing that the formula editor will sometimes render AGG( [Data Field] ) and sometimes render [Agg Data Field]. They are the same, and people eventually learn that they are the same thing. Many of our clients experienced a defect in the Expand Pivot on PDF add-on in which the email body of their dashboard subscriptions included the full Pivot output... instead of the full pivot output being limited to the PDF attachment. With that defect in place for a year, a number of our clients have voiced dismay since the defect was corrected hoping that the defect will come back as a feature.  I would image that if enabled as a feature, that Embedded in Email could be unchecked to avoid including large pivot output in the email body. I imagine that users could understand their data well enough to understand whether a dashboard pivot widget would result in pages of output or not, and would be able to make the decision in the share settings for whether or not to Embed in Email or just Attach PDF or both.   ... Hello, Currently the number of queries running in parallel during an EC build is set at the server level. With setting "Build / Base Table Max Threads" (4 by default). The optimised number of simultaneous queries is very much dependant on the context of the EC. For instance, an EC with 4 differents date source is more likely to accept a high number of simultaneous queries (spread over the 4 data sources), than an EC with only one data source. Therefore, I would like to suggest to make this setting per cube instead of at the server level. An alternative would be to have this setting at the Data Group level. Upon receiving the warning "Maximum number of series (50) exceeded", the warning does not reappear with a widget, dashboard, or page refresh. Instead, a filter change is required in order to trigger it again. IMO the warning should persist with refreshes and be visible every time due to the impact of the limitation being exceed - data is literally missing from the widget and the widget does not reflect the data set expected by the user.  To that end of being clear about the impact of having more series than the limitation allows, the warning would be best reworded to indicate that impact and avoid users making decisions on an uncontrolled subset of data. For example, "Results limited to maximum number of series (50)..." or "Data limited..." This limitation should also be documented in Sisense documentation, but is not currently. ... View more

Currently you only provide a direct link to a dashboard.  Allow the ability to have the ID of the dashboard. That way customers embedding the dashboard into their main app can load it natively into their app instead of directing the user directly to the Sisense instance. ... View more

My team was adding scripts to widgets to add attributes to the embedded widget and noticed an opportunity to expand what metadata we can use in the scripts. I want an option to remove the "Can Design" role when sharing dashboards (yaml? admin settings? does it already exist?). I dislike the role because: Users don't realise that they're editing a temporary copy, and that the owner can Republish to overwrite. They might make many changes, and then months later someone republishes the owner/master version. I'm not entirely sure if republish always overwrites - if the user has made changes, do they keep their version when you republish or get the new one? If they keep theirs, it makes it confusing when trying to make changes requested by a user, because you make a change, click republish, and then the user forgets to click the revert-to-master-button. When a Sisense server's IP address changes, you have to reinstall Sisense. I want a script or button that changes all the relevant settings. We need it because we're planning changes to our network. There are other reasons that an IP address might need to change, e.g. I might restore from a system image backup to a different location, or I might start a new server and, after testing, want to redirect my old server's IP address to it. Hi, Currently in the filters, we are unable to directly filter a comma separated list of entries. The options available are individually selecting the members, however that can get tedious if the list of entries we need to filter are large. For example, filter more than 100 entries. The other option is using the custom option in the filter. However, that too requires JAQL code which might be difficult for non technical users.  It can be useful to have the option to directly copy paste a comma separated list of entries in the filters instead of multiselecting or using the custom JAQL option.   ... When you export a datamodel to a .smodel file, the file includes connection information (server name, password, etc.). I would like an option to exclude that information when I click export. The export dialog already offers check boxes for Data Security, Scope Configuration, etc.; this feature could be just another one that says "Connection Information". Ideally, I'd like it to exclude the connection information by default, so users are forced to explicitly ask to include it, which will remind them to consider the file as sensitive. But I understand if you don't want to change default behaviour that other users are used to. When you import a model that has had this information removed, the import should let you to enter new connection information, or leave it as placeholders like Server=0.0.0.0 and password=Password so you can enter the information after importing. Sisense GIT already removes this information; this feature could work in a similar way. You could even deliberately make GIT's "non-tracked entities" all appear on the list of export options.
