Windows Sisense currently has no way for us as administrators to control how much ram is being used by elasticubes. From looking at the community site, it appears that linux has a way to do this through data groups, but when consulting with support, I have been told to increase our resources, simplify our models, etc.   The big problems that we have observed at my company is that 1. Sisense seems to take up the resources it is given - when ram is increased, usage percentage stays at the same level 2. If something does go wrong and resources begin to get consumed, there are no guard rails in place to stop whatever incident is happening from taking down the whole server This second case has happened only a few times in the years we have had Sisense, but I don't like that I have no way to be proactive about these issues.  ... When replacing a server, or testing an upgrade, we often find our clients taking a backup of their Sisense database and restoring it to another server. After updating the server identity in the mongodb, it's pretty much ready to go. However, use dashboards all reference the old server and have to be updated. This is a manual process that the users themselves one dashboard and data source at time. An administrator cannot easily do that work on their behalf. Acknowledging that there is a replace_datasource API call that allows you to apply a new server and data source to a single dashboard, I would love an easier a way to update just the server across all dashboards. ... Creating security rules within the Data Security menu for Elasticubes only allows you to assign users access to values to that are already in your data. If I am creating a rules for user visibility of e.g. individual 'store references' and a new store with reference '1414' is added, I can't create a rule for store 1414 unless it is already in my data. Could there be an option to manually specify the value, rather than having to select a pre-existing value? (I am aware this possible to add via the REST API, but this is a bit fiddly for frequent small edits). ... View more

Hello, Currently the number of queries running in parallel during an EC build is set at the server level. With setting "Build / Base Table Max Threads" (4 by default). The optimised number of simultaneous queries is very much dependant on the context of the EC. For instance, an EC with 4 differents date source is more likely to accept a high number of simultaneous queries (spread over the 4 data sources), than an EC with only one data source. Therefore, I would like to suggest to make this setting per cube instead of at the server level. An alternative would be to have this setting at the Data Group level. I want an option to remove the "Can Design" role when sharing dashboards (yaml? admin settings? does it already exist?). I dislike the role because: Users don't realise that they're editing a temporary copy, and that the owner can Republish to overwrite. They might make many changes, and then months later someone republishes the owner/master version. I'm not entirely sure if republish always overwrites - if the user has made changes, do they keep their version when you republish or get the new one? If they keep theirs, it makes it confusing when trying to make changes requested by a user, because you make a change, click republish, and then the user forgets to click the revert-to-master-button. Instead of the Designer Role, users can just duplicate the dashboard. That way, no risk of overwrite or confusion.   ... View more

When a Sisense server's IP address changes, you have to reinstall Sisense. I want a script or button that changes all the relevant settings. We need it because we're planning changes to our network. There are other reasons that an IP address might need to change, e.g. I might restore from a system image backup to a different location, or I might start a new server and, after testing, want to redirect my old server's IP address to it. Currently when scheduling builds to run in intervals, you can choose for the builds to run once every X days, OR X hours, OR X minutes. https://docs.sisense.com/main/SisenseLinux/scheduling-builds.htm. It would be beneficial to: 1. Use Hours AND minutes so we can prevent builds scheduled for every one hour from colliding with another build on hourly (even if multiple hours) interval i.e. schedule one for every 1 hour, and one for every 4 hours and on the 4th hour they collide and prevent successful full build. 2. While editing/viewing a cube data source, you can view the logs of the last build, but can't easily see the overall history of builds for that one cube. It would be nice if you could click on the "..." menu and choose View Build History.  A dialog box would pop up showing the most recent 10 builds (or whatever), sorted by date, with start/end datetime, duration, success/failure, etc. ... There needs to be a way to deactivate user accounts rather than completing removing. We have users that will no longer have access to the system, but could come back later (for example, trail users). The workarounds are currently: reassigning security groups (means those users are still taking up licenses) writing our own user admin functionality (only makes sense if we are integrating users to another platform) Adding a 'Status' or 'Disabled' flag to the user account would accomplish this. ... This idea aims to help on-premises installations or live connections to better control load. The scenario: we have a big amount of users using the Report Manager plug-in, and we cannot limit the number of reports they can create or even the minimum periodicity for their schedules. Currently any user will be able to create a big number of reports, and those reports in a worst case scenario could be sent every hour. It could case a high usage of server resources. It is possible to setup the number of concurrent reports that will be processed, but depending on the number of reports it could cause bottlenecks and big deliver delays. The idea: adding some new 'admin' settings to Report Manager plug-in: - Maximum number of reports per user: defines the maximum number of reports a unique user can create. We could use 0 for unlimited (current behavior). - Maximum number of reports per user group: defines the maximum number of reports a user group can create. Same ideia as the above, but related to user groups. It could be a unique setting for any user group, or maybe a map with specific limits for each user group. - Minimum periodicity for scheduling: currently Report Manager offers the hours, days, week and months options. As an admin, have an option at the top of a dashboard to be able to view it as another specific user.  For example, if user John Smith is set under the data security on a cube to only have access to rows for a certain region, the ability to view a dashboard as John Smith would make checking user access very easy. ... Hi, We are facing some issues in the hour timezone related to builds. There's no way to change the UTC setting for the build schedule. It's very confusing and it's generating many issues in timezones when there are changes in the hour due to summer/winter time adjustments. We tried to change the timezone in the upgrade process, but the build schedule only works in UTC. This is a nightmare for data administrators. We disabled the new Simply Ask option in the Sisense configuration but it's still showing as a disabled option when you click a dashboard's context menu.
