NOTE: This is based on a post I made in the "Help & How To" forum. It was recommended to me to make a post here, in the Product Feedback forum, about it. There should be a way for Sisense to display the currently-selected filter values directly on the dashboard. I know that users can see this by expanding the right-hand sidebar to see the Dashboard Filters, and it's also a display option when you export to PDF. However, these aren't always obvious or available to the intended audience for the dashboard. For example, if I have a dashboard that's setup with a dashboard-level filter for "Work Group", it would be nice if I could display - directly on the dashboard itself - what work group is currently being filtered down to. Also, some of the values can be unclear, especially for date filters that use colloquial language such as "This Year" or "Last Quarter". There should be some way of displaying the exact date ranges that are being filtered for. For example, if today is November 13th 2024, then the "Last Quarter" filter value would mean dates from July 1st 2024 through September 30th 2024. But after the new year, if I were to check the dashboard again on January 6th 2025, then the date range would instead be from October 1st 2024 through December 31st 2024. Currently, in both cases, it'll just still how as "Last Quarter" and it's up to the user to figure out what that means (which can be difficult if they're looking at a static printout from some unknown time in the past). Other time periods can also be ambiguous or prone to misunderstanding. For instance, it's common to see people assume "Last Week" means a rolling time period covering the last 7 days, rather than the prior calendar week. Or assuming "Last 2 months" means the same as "this and last month", rather than the prior two calendar months not including the current month.  ... View more

It's great that in the formula editor one can add as much empty space as one likes to make the code as readable as possible... spaces, returns, blank lines, etc. Also great that fields in the formula editor can be renamed from what they are in the data browser to detail, for example, how a field is filtered. We can also hack that feature to add in a [Value]*0 as a comment. Still, revisiting big formulas is time consuming because of the lack of code comments. One can create an external repository that includes comments, but formulas cannot be copied and pasted from an external repository into the formula editor, making an external solution not much more helpful. So having a way of commenting in the formula editor, or a way to store formula code somewhere else that allows for commenting that also allows for easy update in Sisense when the code changes in the external repo.   ... Currently, the Area Map widget only offers two map types: World and USA. This becomes problematic if your data is limited to a specific country (Indonesia, in my case), and you only want to display that country on the map. I've managed to filter for Indonesia using the following code: ...res.geoJson.features.filter(feature => feature.properties.name === 'Indonesia'), However, this approach leads to another issue: when the dashboard loads, the Indonesian area is too small, and I have to manually zoom in. I would greatly appreciate any code or method to set the widget to automatically zoom into the Indonesian region when displayed on the dashboard. ... We use jump to dashboard to allow users to view a data table to give them context to the chart they are looking at. For large data sets, this can lead to millions of records. The issue comes up when users try to then export this table. It would be nice if there was a way to set a hard limit to the number of records returned in a table/table with aggregation. When users try to download too large of a table, it impacts server performance for everyone, and the only way to really limit the tables right now and still allow them to be filterable on all required fields is not efficient (rank filter on a semi-unique identifier using the max of a unique identifier). I am looking to place simple guard rails into how much data can be exported into one file, I am flexible as to where this option presents itself and how - either a count of max records or a file size works. Having an option to set the max number of records returned in this widget type also would work. I would be fine with this as an option buried in the configuration settings page or within the admin page itself. I just want the option present somewhere. ... View more

Idea: Allow developers to build/test add-ons in a local environment rather than requiring a live environment. Note that this would be for the purpose of creating custom add-ons for additional functionality that would require testing on the "out of the box" Sisense UI. Background/Context: In most development workflows it is common practice to work on your code locally on your machine and deploy to a local server aka "localhost" to test/view your work in the browser. An example of this is building and deploying a local React.js app to your browser. As you make changes to the code it will recompile locally and update what you see on your localhost. If you're using Sisense out of the box however, to test/view any changes to an add-on developers are forced to upload the files in some way to a live Sisense Environment. This not only limits the innovation of add-ons to developers with an active license and live environment, it makes it painfully inefficient to develop customizations on top of the Sisense application. I understand there are likely some business concerns with allowing the use of the product locally but I'd argue that there are ways to prevent that, such as enforcing some default sample data etc., but in such a way that would give developers a "local playground" to develop/innovate on. ... Hi, Working on a dashboard containing 3 pivot tables. Each have a lot of columns. (see print screen attached). In order to have a proper PDF, I need to turn the page format to A0 / landscape When exporting to PDF at the Dashboard level (from the pdf button top right), I access to a PDF setup, where I can choose the layout (landscape) and the paper format (A0), so that all the columns appears properly. In this screen, there is a Save button so that the PDF setup is saved for next time (see print screen) When exporting to pdf at a widget level, the same setup otions are available (landscape and A0), BUT THERE IS NO SAVE BUTTON. I have to redo this setup each time (see print screen). Could we have the the Save button on the widget / PDF option page, same as we have ar the dashboard / pdf option page please ? Thank you ... When we send more than one Combined Excel Report while using a dashboard having different filters on it. Names of those combined Excel sheet we get from them is same as they were using same dashboard for creating a report, which is difficult to identify when downloaded simultaneously. Our users often unnecessarily/mistakenly create filters at the Widget level when, really, it may make better sense for that filter to be applied at the Dashboard level. Had a suggestion from a user yesterday to add a menu button for Widget filters that will move/convert the filter from the Widget layer to the Dashboard layer. It would be great to have settings that allow adjusting the limit of values in a Pivot Table, similar to the existing option for changing the maximum number of columns displayed. Currently, we can only adjust the maximum number of columns displayed in the Pivot Table configuration. This can be done via the Admin tab by navigating to Server & Hardware > System Management > Configuration. Create a pivot widget of RSUM( [Total Quantity] ) over time (rows) and break by (columns) age range. Scanning down each column, over rows, the numbers only increase. Now change it to a line widget. The break by defaults from an RSUM within columns in the pivot to an RSUM within rows in the line chart. This is the same as not having an RSUM and doing a stacked area. Our clients expect the line chart the results from changing the pivot to a line chart, to reflect the same output as the source pivot. As it stands now, they are surprised to see negative curvature in their RSUM, think something is broken, and open a support ticket. The default behavior should be to render Break by Columns instead of Rows. As an aside, I'm having trouble coming up with, and would be interested in hearing, use cases for charts with break by set to rows.  ... View more

The content/formatting/text contained in the various Sisense-generated/automated emails is currently static. I went through a long dialog with support and determined that  it's not customizable by customers. I would like it if we could modify these emails, and I'd especially like to have access to dynamic variables that we can insert in the email body (or subject). User's first name or last name were specific for my use case, but having access to a variety of variable could be helpful. ... View more

Enhance the Header options when you download a widget as PDF (via ellipsis > Download > Download as PDF) to include the same options as when exporting a full dashboard as PDF. Dashboard PDF export offers "Date As Of", "Dataset Name" and "Dashboard Filters" in the Header options (attached). This is also needed when exporting specific widget, which only offers Title. ... There are some dashboards where we don't want people messing with the filters.  Or where filters aren't needed to be changed, and we want the maximum "real estate" available for the body of the dashboard. I know you can hide the left- and right-hand panes with script, but this really should be an option exposed in the dashboard designer UI, as a setting for that dashboard. Hi, for this moment we have such a behaviour: sum(NULL * 10) = NULL but SUM(NULL * [id]) = [id] in the same time if [id] have values (1,NULL) and we will do SUM([id]) = NULL Is it possible to add some toggle in the system how to work with NULL values. Similar to widow-orphan control of Paragraph page breaks in MS Word... it would be nice to have this in pivot tables too. That is, let's say the existing rows/subtotals in a pivot table take up 20 out of the "rows per page" value of 25.  If the next sub-section to display is going to take 3 rows, great, show that section.  But if the next sub-section is going to show 10 items, it means the subsection/subtotal will be split across two pages.  This is hard to remembe/digest/use when interacting with the dashboard.  With widow-orphan control, it would do a page break "early" before showing that next subsection of 10 items. ...
