Error when trying to connect to Oracle 9i database

I am receiving the following error when trying to connect to an Oracle 9i database: Error Connecting - The type initializer for 'Oracle.DataAccess.Client.OracleConnection' threw an exception. Steps to reproduce. 1. Open Prism Desktop (v.0.80.1907) 2. Select Create New Data Source 3. For Data Origin select Oracle 9i (I already installed the Prism Oracle Client) 4. For Server Name enter localhost 5. Click 'Use the following user name and password:' 6. enter user name and password 7. Click the connect button 8. Error message appears 9. Application quits I am using windows XP. The only applications I installed were 9i Database and Prism Desktop. I successfully connected to the database with JDeveloper and other SQL tools. Thanks, Mike

Re: Error when trying to connect to Oracle 9i database

    Mike,

I have confirmed with our development team that there is a severe issue with Prism Oracle Client (which is a stripped down version of oracle's modules) in this beta release (0.80.1907) and are working on a fix (it has to do the way the client is deployed and communicates with the Prism application). I will let you know when it is resolved.

    Apologies for the inconvenience,

    Elad

Re: Error when trying to connect to Oracle 9i database

Has this been fixed in Prism Cubed? I Just downloaded a demo and am not able to connect to my 10g database. I have the 11g client installed on my machine if that matters (I don't know if SiSense relies on the client software already installed on my PC or uses its own)

    Thanks

You should download and extract the prerequisites to the application location.

Copying your  tnsnames.ora   file to the PrismCubed installation directory should enable you to connect - it does for me
